Changes to the provision of payments

For the last few months, you’ve been able to receive payments instantly to your account. This means your balance is updated straight away.

From 9th October 2025, we’ll start to roll out payments you can send instantly from your account. These payments will reach whoever you are paying within 10 seconds. We will let you know when these become available through our online services and on our website.

As part of these changes, we will also be introducing a new check called ‘Verification of Payee’ or ‘VoP’ for all SEPA payments. This additional fraud prevention service will help protect your money. VoP will check that the account name and account number you enter matches the recipient’s name and number on their bank or credit union account.

The attached guide explains the changes in more detail. Information can also be found on our website.

To accept these changes, you don’t need to do anything. If you don’t want to accept the changes, you have the right to close your account or end your agreement with us free of charge, provided that any outstanding balances or fess have been cleared. You can do this by writing to our office or contacting us by email. If we don’t hear from you before 31st August 2025, the new terms will be applied automatically.

The terms and conditions for our current account and debit card are also being updated and a copy can be found on our website or in branch. If you have a question, please call us on 051-873867 or email to info@stdominicscu.ie
